The Gerstung group is looking for a highly talented postdoctoral researcher to contribute to their research in computational cancer biology.
Research in the group includes large-scale international projects such as the ICGC PanProstate consortium utilising cloud computing to enhance our understanding of prostate cancer. Other streams of research cover the genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic analysis of precancerous lesions in different tumour types, which are conducted in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the University of Cambridge.
Qualifications and Experience
- A successful candidate holds a PhD and a proven track record in quantitative science, combined with a desire to work on biomedical research questions;
- A key ability is to work with large volumes of biological data by programming in languages such as R, python or perl. This ability would ideally be building on coursework in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science or related fields;
- An ideal candidate has an open mindset, desire to break new grounds with their research and is keen to work in a collaborative environment;
- Experience with genomic and transcriptomic data analysis or experimental protocols such as laser capture micro dissection would be a plus.
