MRC - Medical Research Council
Harwell, United Kingdom
About the Role
We specialise in the creation and distribution of mouse resources to the worldwide scientific community and have a 3 year vacancy for a skilled technician to work within a busy genotyping laboratory. The genotyping core facility delivers a high quality, high throughput; genotyping service using a wide range of PCR based techniques and automated liquid handling systems.
More specifically, the post has been created to genotype mouse strains produced by the MRC Harwell’s embryo archive. After gaining the relevant experience, it is expected that you will perform genotyping assays, liaise with clients and coordinate sample collection, answer assay queries and distribute genotyping results. This post is critical to the success of the high profile services offered by the Mary Lyon Centre. Key to the success of this post is that samples are genotyped accurately and with a quick turnaround so that mouse stocks can be quality controlled before they are exported to the scientific community, or imported into the embryo archive.
An undergraduate degree in a relevant science subject, or equivalent is essential. Along with previous work experience in a laboratory using basic molecular biology techniques.
