Postdoctoral Position "Involvement of Stearoyl-CoA Desaturase (SCD)-Dependent Signaling in Pericardial and Pericoronary Adipose Tissue and Coronary Artery Dysfunction in Obesity and Atherosclerosis"
Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology
Laboratory of Molecular Medical Biochemistry is currently recruiting Postdoctoral Associate to undertake a project: “Involvement of stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD)-dependent signaling in pericardial and pericoronary adipose tissue and coronary artery dysfunction in obesity and atherosclerosis”. The research is funded by National Science Centre within the SONATA-BIS programme. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in the field of life sciences and have extensive experience in molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry.
Key responsibilities include:
The main objective of the proposed project is to establish the role of SCD and lipid mediators in pericoronary adipose tissue and coronary artery dysfunction in obesity and atherosclerosis. Project realization will provide new insights about SCD-dependent lipid signaling pathways that are driving the cells along a proper differentiation/proliferation program and ischemia-induced coronary angiogenesis.
Profile of candidates:
- PhD degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology or medical sciences;
- outstanding publication record;
- be highly motivated (demonstrated via joint publications, references of the candidate's thesis tutor, previous post-doctoral positions different from the PhD awarding institutions);
- be proficient in English.
