Full Professor (W3) for Tumor Microenvironment and Metabolism

The successful candidate is expected to contribute, strengthen and expand mechanism-based cancer research within the ‘Cell and Tumor Biology’ program of the DKFZ. We are looking for an internationally recognized scientist with an outstanding track record with respect to publications and third party funding. The candidate will have previously demonstrated the ability to direct a program of highly innovative and original research, which addresses fundamental questions related to cancer biology. In particular we would like to strengthen the research area studying interaction of tumor cells with their cellular and molecular microenvironment and/or the tumor metabolism during tumor development, progression and metastasis. The highly innovative research portfolio should include state-of the art technologies as well as advanced mammalian tumor models and ideally analysis of human tumor samples.
The position at the level of a DKFZ Head of Division (Department) is endowed with an attractive intramural funding package including personnel, consumables and investments. The appointment requires a university degree as well as a lecturer qualification (Habilitation), or a positively reviewed junior professorship or equivalent qualification (according to § 47, Section 2, of the State of Baden-Württemberg University legislation). The successful candidate will be appointed as a full professor of the University of Heidelberg according to the "Jülicher Modell" In case all legal requirements are met, the candidate will be appointed with a permanent civil-servant status.
