Research Associate in Molecular Microbiology

We are seeking an individual for a postdoctoral Research Associate position within the School of Oral and Dental Sciences. You will join an exciting programme focused on the association of oral Streptococcus bacteria with cardiovascular disease, supervised by Dr Angela Nobbs within the Oral Microbiology group, in collaboration with Professor Alastair Poole (School of Physiology and Pharmacology).

This project will explore the molecular basis for Streptococcus gordonii interactions with blood platelets, and the mechanisms that underpin the undesirable thrombosis associated with heart condition infective endocarditis. Candidates should have a PhD degree in molecular microbiology/biochemistry. Experience of bacterial cultivation, molecular biology techniques and tissue culture are essential.
