Applications are invited for a Director of the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) who will also be a professorial level appointment in Biotechnology at the University of Manchester. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment at an exciting time to develop the research profile of the university in this important area. This position will also support the future direction of the Biotechnology Research Beacon in the University.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead a significant academic research programme within the remit of the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology and will collaborate effectively with other researchers within the Schools, Institutes and further afield in the University. This is a senior appointment in the University and the successful candidate will provide leadership in developing further the research capacity that complements the research activities within the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology as well as the Biotechnology Beacon. As well as providing strong direction in terms of research, the appointee will also help to develop the education profile of the Faculty and expand industrial and international links. The appointee will also perform an important role in mentoring academic staff across the Faculty, particularly early career researchers.
