Postdoctoral Fellow in Large Eddy Simulations of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer

Postdoctoral Fellow in Large Eddy Simulations of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer

Stockholm University - Department of Meteorology

Stockholm, Sweden

Project description

In this project, we have a vision of further developing the Large Eddy Simulations technique for the atmospheric boundary layer for very large problems, such as simulating the full diurnal cycle with both the nighttime and daytime turbulence well resolved. We intend to examine all numerical aspects, and especially the lower boundary condition, with the aim of making the code efficient for exascale computing.

The project, funded by the Swedish e-science Research Centre, is a collaboration between the Department of Meteorology at Stockholm University, the Department of Mechanics at the Royal Technical University, Computational Mathematics at Linköping University and the Rossby Centre at SMHI.

Qualification requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country in meteorology, oceanography, climate science, fluid mechanics, applied mathematics or in a related field.
