In this project, the focus is on improving model performance for near-surface parameters in numerical weather prediction and climate models with a special emphasis on the boundary-layer turbulence and its role for the general circulation. Within this general framework, the successful candidate will be able to shape the project, together with the project leader, building on previous work using tailored observational data and modeling tools such as a coupled Atmosphere Ocean Single Column Model (AOSCM) and the corresponding global models OpenIFS/EC-Earth.
Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country in Meteorology, Oceanography, Climate Science or in a related field.
The assessment is based on previous research experience. Research analyzing model results and/or model development analysis will be an advantage. Doctoral candidates may apply for the position if they expect to receive the PhD degree before the starting date of the position.
The applicant should have excellent knowledge of both oral and written English.
