The Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics invites applications for a professor position in Mechatronics. The fields of research and development and studies of the professorship are the following:

  • Mechatronics system control;
  • Robotic control and sensorics;
  • Autonomous and smart systems;
  • Industrial AI systems;
  • Human centered robotics;
  • •Self-learning mechatronics and robotics systems.

Professor's responsibilities

  • Management of projects in the field of mechatronics;
  • Applying for high-level funding in his or her field of expertise;
  • Organisation of studies at Master's level in the subjects of mechatronics modelling, advanced robotics, etc.;
  • Involving doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers in the research and development activities of the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics;
  • Advising policy makers, representatives of the state and the society in field of mechatronics;
  • Further development of the Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems Centre at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics;
  • Contribution to national strategic plans in the field of mechatronics.

Qualification requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification in IT, electronics, mechanical engineering or a similar field;
  • Extensive and proven experience in carrying out analysis of mechatronics systems and/or robotics in the field and excellent teaching skills;
  • An excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken;
  • Successful supervision of at least 1 doctoral thesis;
  • Preparation of the methodology of a number of courses (incl. courses taught in English) and creation of teaching materials and aids (used mainly for academic activities related to his/her own work).

The following gives an advantage when applying for the position:

  • Being a member of IEEE (automation and robotics section);
  • Being the author or translator-editor of at least one textbook for higher education institutions or an equivalent teaching aid;
  • Being a member of an international conference committee;
  • Being an active and outstanding spokesman in his/her field of expertise;
  • Having initiative in finding funding and competing for it, including in cooperation with other universities;
  • Having energy and willingness to work in a new and young research team;
  • Worked as a recognised top specialist in his/her field in an enterprise or in the public sector (e.g. an engineer, specialist, etc.),
  • Successful experience in entrepreneurship.
