The candidate will lead multiple early-stage small-molecule drug discovery programs. He/she will work in tandem with the Lead Medicinal Chemist towards the discovery of validated hits, optimized lead compounds or (pre)clinical candidate drugs. You will be expected to design and implement experiments to investigate the pharmacological activity of compounds (e.g. target, hit and assay validation, identification of biomarkers, elucidation of mechanism of action). The candidate will oversee and execute lab-based activities in support of the project on a day-to-day basis, as well as manage and follow-up all biology-related scientific and non-scientific aspects of his/her projects (including planning, timelines and budget). The candidate will report on progress of the project and ensure an overall good communication between the internal and external partners involved. The candidate will directly report to the Director of Drug Discovery (Biology), and work in close collaboration with the Director of Medicinal Chemistry.
