The supernova group in the Department of Astronomy at Stockholm University (along with others in the Oskar Klein Centre) is one of the strongest in Europe with over 30 active researchers studying various aspects of from the explosion itself, the electromagnetic and neutrino signals, and the astrophysical and cosmological implications.
We are seeking applications for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of core-collapse supernova theory. This position will be in collaboration with Dr. Evan O’Connor and the supernova group at Stockholm University. The project will focus on numerical simulations of the central engine and the astrophysical consequences of the resulting explosions.
The position will see the successful applicant joining our group effort of modeling the core-collapse supernova central engine and the explosions that follow with state-of-the-art multidimensional hydrodynamic and neutrino transport software. The position will also afford the possibility to interact with the extensive theoretical and observational supernovae groups, other computational astrophysics groups, and the larger astronomy and physics community at Stockholm University and the Oskar Klein Centre.
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.
