University of Nottingham

Nottingham, United Kingdom

Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Professor in Mechatronics based in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering (M3) in Nottingham University’s faculty of engineering. The appointed academic will complement and strengthen research related to the expansion of activities within the Rolls Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Manufacturing and On-Wing Technology. The UTC expansion is in the area of design and control of complex mechatronics systems for manufacturing processes and on-platform technologies (in-situ repair/processing of large structures without need of disassembly). This research strand is a combination of mechanical and electrical engineering for the realisation of specialist mechatronic systems (for example control of invasive robotic systems) for on-platform processing of aerospace components/assemblies.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of teaching for the department’s undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses in the area of manufacturing engineering. Broader teaching capability is highly advantageous as is relevant teaching experience. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they can teach to a high standard including:
