A permanent position is vacant with the Quaternary geology team at NGU. The position will be assigned to the Quaternary geology team, and we are seeking a highly qualified and motivated geologist who will be involved in field work in various parts of Norway.
Applicants should have a PhD or Master with excellent skills in field-based Quaternary/glacial geology. It is important to demonstrate a solid background in one or more of the following: Quaternary geological mapping, glacial depositional processes, clastic sedimentology, glacial and postglacial landscape development and Quaternary stratigraphy. Relevant GIS-experience would be an advantage.
The applicant should demonstrate the ability to work independently, as well as within a multidisciplinary team. Relevant field experience is necessary, and 4-8 weeks of field work and mapping pr year is estimated for this position. Researchers are expected to initiate and lead projects. The researcher will have to communicate geological data out to national and local communities, as well as to the national and international scientific community. The applicant should master Scandinavian and English languages in written and oral form. Driver license for car is required.
