To expand the expertise of the Beck Laboratory in protein engineering, we are seeking an outstanding candidate to join our team as a Research Assistant (f/m/d).

Your task

The successful applicant will join a well-equipped and thriving laboratory within a vibrant international research environment, boasting collaborative and collegial scientific atmosphere. The candidate will work on a project at the intersection of protein design, proteomics, and structural biology, with potential biomedical applications that could lead to the creation of a spin-out company. The role involves using of in silico predictions to design, express, and purify recombinant protein constructs, verifying their composition and providing experimental validation to advance our understanding of antibody mechanisms with aims to develop new biologically active constructs for potential use in vaccine design.

Your qualification

The applicant should hold a degree as a technical assistant or a bachelor's or master's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field and have documented experience in:

  • molecular cloning
  • protein expression (ideally in human tissue cell cultures).
  • protein purification (affinity chromatography, gel filtration, ion exchange)
  • protein analysis (SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, etc.)
  • Experience in glycobiology, single particle cryo-EM, or mass spectrometry is not required, but is considered a benefit. Additionally, an interest in entrepreneurship and startups is beneficial, as it aligns with the potential commercialization of research outcomes.
