Work description

We are looking for a talented and motivated statistician with experience and skills in programming, data management and biostatistical analyses (for example survival analyses), and the use of register data to study health outcomes. We expect you to have good knowledge and skills in programming in STATA, SAS and /or R, and be able to handle clinical variables, register-based data and in some projects also biological data (proteomics and genetics). The research in the group is focused on lymphoma, testicular cancer and ovarian cancer, and includes clinical trials, studies of tumour biology and register linkages. Your tasks include doing statistical analyses independently to develop and conduct research projects in close collaboration with research colleagues. Examples of ongoing research that you will be involved in includes; 1) Novel acute and long-term side-effects after cancer treatment, 2) Outcome after the introduction of novel immunotherapies in combination with chemotherapy. 3) Comprehensive studies with integration of biological, clinical, and sociodemographic information with the aim to study what factors contribute to improve cancer prognosis.

Requirements

For employment as a statistician, a bachelor's or master's degree in a suitable field is required, e.g. statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or data science.

  • Have skills in data management, statistical analysis and modeling (SAS, STATA and/or R) with particular experience in survival analysis and experience from register-based data;
  • Are detail-oriented, professional and well-organized;
  • Collaborate well with PhD-students and other researchers;
  • Has excellent abilities for written, illustrative, and oral communication of scientific results;
  • Has sufficient knowledge in register-based data that we use for research.

Merits

A PhD degree in a relevant area of statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or data science is a strong merit. Knowledge/experience of the following fields is an advantage: medicine, in particular oncology, hematology and immunology. Previous experience in working with national or clinical register data is beneficial, as well as previous co-authorship of scientific publications.
