Post-doctoral Position on HIV Latency

Post-doctoral Position on HIV Latency

Institut Cochin

Paris, France

Research project

A two-years post-doctoral position is available in the Virus-Host Interactions team at the Institut Cochin in Paris, France. Deciphering the molecular mechanisms behind HIV latency is paramount for developing effective treatment strategies. Our laboratory explores the mechanisms of HIV-1 latency leading to the persistence of cells harboring replication-competent but transcriptionally silent viruses. This project aims at understanding how cellular factors controlling premature transcription termination enforce transcriptional silencing of HIV in latently infected cells (Gérard et al. Cell Host & Microbe 2015; Ait-Said et al, PNAS 2023).

Main Activities

Cellular and molecular biology, molecular virology, vector/virus production, cell culture (cell lines and primary cells), biochemistry, IP, WB, protein expression and purification, ChIP, transcriptomic, bioinformatic analysis

Job specification(s) and environment

Work in BSL3 facility.

Expertise

  • Strong background in mechanisms of regulation transcription/post-transcription and/or molecular virology

Know-how

  • Strong background in transcription/chromatin biology, biochemistry and molecular biology. Bioinformatic skills and/or experience with HIV will be an advantage.

Ability

  • Excellent oral communication and written skills in English, and strong organizational and analytical abilities are required.

Experience(s) required

  • Ph.D. (or MD/PhD) in relevant disciplines such as virology, genomic, transcriptomic or biochemistry, with at least 1 first-author publication.
