The Fritz Haber Institute (Department of Inorganic Chemistry) offers a Postdoctoral position - Solvothermal synthesis of oxides.
Complex mixed oxides are applied as catalysts in the functionalization of hydrocarbons with molecular oxygen. High selectivity in partial oxidation reactions contributes to improved utilization of natural resources, and to the reduction of CO2 emissions. The synthesis of the catalyst has a strong impact on catalyst performance.
In the project new synthesis strategies will be developed with the aim to prepare nano-structured mixed oxides with desired functional properties. Important materials’ requirements are phase purity and homogeneity. Solvothermal synthesis will be applied in batch or continuous mode. Our autoclaves are equipped with a number of probes and ports, which allow monitoring and control of the inorganic reaction in the autoclave. Other techniques of synthetic inorganic chemistry can also be applied.
The project is involved in the collaboration of the Fritz-Haber-Institut with the UniSysCat - BASF - JointLab at the Technical University Berlin.
We are looking for a highly motivated, creative inorganic chemist, who can work independently, and is able to adopt new methods, for example spectroscopic techniques and advanced methods of data analysis, quickly. Required qualifications include a PhD in chemistry or materials science. A strong proven research background in inorganic chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis is advantageous.
