To be part of the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Team (EPICAN) within the Public Health Expertise Unit (PHE) at Department of Precision Health (DoPH) at the LIH.
Background:
Population-based cancer registries (PBCR) are essential for cancer surveillance, research, and the evaluation of cancer prevention and control efforts. PBCR contribute to policy formulation and screening programs by linking and harmonizing data from multiple sources. The National Cancer Registry (RNC), supported by the National Cancer Plan (PNC2), aims to explore the linkage of RNC data with secondary sources like biobank, genomic datasets and socioeconomic data.
Objectives:
The “RELIANCE: REaL-life cANCEr epidemiology research” initiative is a research project analyzing high-resolution cancer registry data and exploring linkages with data sources. The goals include identifying factors relevant to translational cancer research and setting key priorities and strategies. This interdisciplinary project has significant implications for national policy (PNC2) and international research, focusing on using health data to improve patient outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct data harmonization, linkage and analyses using national cancer cohorts and related health indicators;
- Contribute to scientific publications/reports, and present results at conferences;
- Assist in drafting and submitting proposals for funding to support further research development.
Key Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
- PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology or a related field. Experience with cancer registries, cancer data or healthcare is beneficial;
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data management; experience with R and Stata is preferred;
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills, demonstrated through contributions to team projects or publications;
- Ability to work independently with guidance and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team;
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively;
- Understanding of cancer control policies and care pathways is desirable;
- Proficiency in English; French language skills or the willingness to learn would be an asset.
