Offer Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Investigator with expertise in pancreatic cancer biology, specialising in pancreatic cancer subtyping and tumor heterogeneity. The ideal candidate will have an excellent track-record of publishing high impact papers in pancreatic cancer translational research with an in-depth and working understanding of pancreatic histopathology, cutting-edge analyses including single cell transcriptomics/proteomics and spatial imaging, and the development of in vivo and/or ex vivo model systems.

Duties and responsabilities

Main duties will include

  • Lead a dynamic research team focused on molecular oncology for pancreatic cancer, providing scientific direction and mentoring junior staff;
  • Design and execute experiments utilising spatial omics approaches to study tumour heterogeneity at the transcriptional, epigenetic and proteomic level in clinically relevant samples;
  • Develop and optimise in vivo and/or ex vivo model systems for molecular characterization, validation and manipulation;
  • Apply and implement bioinformatic tools to identify, characterize and study different pancreatic cancer cell populations and tissue architectures;
  • Collaborate with clinical partners to integrate molecular findings into precision medicine approaches for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment;
  • Stay abreast of advancements in NGS techniques and AI-based imaging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on cancer biology research;
  • Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present results at scientific conferences;
  • Contribute to grant writing and fundraising efforts to support ongoing research projects and secure additional funding for future initiatives.

Standards of performance

  • Excellent team management, ensuring that staff perform to a high level and that they are appropriately trained and developed in their roles;
