Just Evotec Biologics EU is seeking a motivated and creative Senior Scientist, who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. The new scientist will join a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team. As a key member of the Mass Spectrometry group, you will possess strong skills in LC-MS/MS method development, mAbs and biosimilar characterization, mentoring junior staff, and authoring regulatory authority correspondence and interaction.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist I who will play a pivotal role in the MS team and have a strong passion for laboratory work. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of regulatory-ready bioanalytical methods for characterization of monoclonal antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). Experience with comparability studies, biosimilar development, as well as authoring regulatory documents is highly recommended. The ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communications skills, excellent organizational skills and works well independently and in teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize robust bioanalytical methods for biologics including biosimilar and ADC using LC-MS and HRMS, ensuring validation standards are met;
- Perform sample preparation, analysis using Byos and Skyline, and data interpretation in adherence to project timelines and quality requirements;
- Independently operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC-MS and HRMS instruments (Exploris 240 and XevoG3);
- Write, review, and update method standard operating procedures (SOPs) as necessary;
- Collaborate with process teams to ensure smooth results release using Labkey;
- Participate in client meetings;
- Stay current with the latest advancements in LC/MS and HRMS technology, and apply best practices to enhance laboratory efficiency;
- Uphold Health and Safety standards, including personal protection and laboratory maintenance;
- Participate in mentoring and training of entry-level and junior scientists.
Requirements:
- MSc + 10 years experience, or PhD with +5 years of experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field;
- Experience with Biosimilar and ADC characterization and comparability;
- Expertise with Orbitrap MS and Q-ToF MS (Exploris 240 or XevoG3);
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences;
- Desire to work in a fast, collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with troubleshooting complex instrumentation;
- Characterization of complex glycoproteins;
- Experience with compendial assays (USP, EP, JP);
- Experience with CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls);
- Good written and verbal French & English communication skills.
