Join our team and build up and lead a biotech department for Vitamins/Carotenoids, driving innovative biotechnological production of vitamins and carotenoids. You’ll integrate strain engineering, fermentation, and downstream recovery with data science, and analytical chemistry, collaborating across R&D and manufacturing to achieve strategic goals.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead the set-up of a new R&D team in Tulln, playing an active part in transferring strain engineering and fermentation capabilities from a research center in the USA;
  • Lead and develop the biotech team for biobased production of vitamins/carotenoids;
  • Direct strain engineering, fermentation, and downstream processing projects;
  • Communicate with internal collaborators, third parties, and strategic partners;
  • Provide information and reports on strain generation and strain characterization and support safety assessments of production strains for filing regulatory dossiers;
  • Interact and collaborate with piloting and manufacturing sites;
  • Ensure quality and compliance in diverse bio-industrial projects.

You bring

  • Industry and team leadership experience (5-10 people);
  • Expertise in microbial biotechnology, fermentation technology, metabolic engineering, and downstream recovery;
  • Experience with yeast, fungi, and bacteria;
  • Understanding of scale-up/scale-down operations and data analysis;
  • Experience generating intellectual property, project management and organizational skills;
  • Ph.D. plus 8 years or M.S. plus 15 years in Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology, or related field.
