A 2-year Postdoctoral position to work with the Multiscale Materials Modeling and the Physical Simulation Groups at IMDEA Materials Institute is seek. The researcher will work on developing constitutive models for the mechanical response of different steels fabricated by additive manufacturing.
The tasks to be developed will be mainly numerical, using state-of-the-art tools as crystal plasticity and homogenization based on Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) solvers or Finite Elements, but will require a good background in materials science, specifically on steels.
Candidates should have strong analytical skills and hold a PhD in Material Science or Mechanical Engineering. An excellent academic record will be required. Additionally, successful candidates are expected to be fluent in spoken and written English and have programming experience in Python or Fortran/C++.
